Activities of the Navy at a glance

On August 4, the tender WERRA will be fastened at Passenger quay in Warnemünde (scheduled time to enter the port: 10 p.m.).
This ship can be visited during the Hanse Sail. The Speedboat S 73 HERMELIN, which is located in Rostock’s Port, can also be visited during the Sail.
On Thursday, August 5 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.; on Friday, August 6, and Saturday, August 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Naval Base Warnemünde opens the gates and offers a maritime, extensive, and diversified program.
Besides the speedboats, tenders, tugboats, and the oil skimmer boat BOTTSAND, there will be a NATO-joint-task-force with 7 ships from 6 nations. They will be open to visitors during the open Naval Base days.
The Coast Guard is represented through a patrol boat and a helicopter.
Another helicopter, a naval helicopter of the Sea King type, will perform sea rescue exercises together with divers of the naval base.
The firebrigade of the base shows their field of applications for fighting fire and oil-mishaps.
At different booths, like the one of the military service advisor, the military service administration, and the military spiritual guiding, the visitors can get information about their tasks, and civil and military career possibilities within the German armed forces.
The medical service of the German armed forces presents its technical devices, answers questions about the tasks of the medical service and shows hints for how to administer first aid at the scene of an accident.
A make-up class will include visitors into the illustration of injuries.
In the Doll’s Hospital “Dr. Pille”, the sick dolls and stuffed animals of the younger guests will be cured.
Actions of the divers will be a viewer magnet. The extraordinary tools for under-water-works will astonish the older generation. The younger generation might find a secret treasure with the help of professional divers.
Cheerleaders of the German post office will cheer up the mood at the army post office of the German armed forces, which performs collections of the post buoy and supplies people with stamps.
The German air force, with the in Sanitz stationed air-defense-missile-troops, introduces their weapon system “Patriot”.
Transportation from the camping site Markgrafenheide and the ferry “Hohe Düne” to the naval base will be realized by buses of the German armed forces in hourly intervals.
Motorised visitors will be offered parking spots at the naval base in Warnemünde.
A boat shuttle from the passenger quay in Warnemünde into the naval base will not be realized this year. Instead, tours to the seaside area of the naval base will be offered.
All visitors are asked to bring along identification cards. We ask for your understanding, that in the context of safety, there will be checkups of bags backpacks at the entrance of the base.
Another advice for pet lovers: dogs and other animals are not allowed on the naval base.
