The Hanse Sail is part of the worldwide biggest meetings of traditional sailing and museum ships. Since 1991 the maritime folk festival takes place annually at the second weekend in August.
Roughly 250 participating ships offer altogether with cruise liners, ferries and ships of the German Marine a lively maritime world exhibition. Every year more than one million people visit the Hanse Sail.
