Hanse Sail Association

The Hanse Sail Association is a long standing and reliable partner of Hanse Sail. The Association's most important fields of activity are:

(1) Services and support
for the crews of ships participating in the Hanse Sail event

A network of approx. 150 volunteers makes sure that the crews of the tall ships and traditional sailing vessels feel at home in the Hanseatic City and that they will be able to enjoy worthwhile days by the river Warnow that leave a lasting impression. Günter Senf heads the team of volunteer attendants with dedication and organisational talent.

(2) Brokerage of sailing trips, day trips and week trips

The Tall Ship booking office of the Hanse Sail Association arranges sailing trips. About 30,000 visitors of the Hanse Sail event use the opportunity to join trips and spend exciting hours on board of tall ships and traditional sailing vessels, for example during the fleet trips on the river Warnow, regattas off Warnemünde or the HIORTEN-regatta from Karlskrona to Rostock.

The experienced crew of Mandy Schultz arranges trips on sailing vessels and flights with seaplanes.

(3) Organisation of exhibitions and encounters
with a maritime and tourism focus

Artists and culture professionals are given the opportunity to present their artistic work on ships or in galleries during the Hanse Sail event. The chairman of the Association, Günter Senf, has been coordinating the cooperations successfully since 1996.

(4) Support for replica of historic sailing vessels in the harbours of the Baltic with contributions and back-up of the activities of the Baltic Sail movement.

Two books, "Segelschulschiffe am Wind – Jugend unter Segeln" (Youth Under Sails) and "Hanse Sail Rostock – Wo man sich begegnet" (Hanse Sail Rostock – Encounters) were published by the Association.
