Haikutter-Regatta

As a neighbourhood greeting Denmark sends the day before the Hanse Sail small, agile fishing vessels, the so-called "Haikutter" (shark cutter) to Rostock.

The ships named after their predatory speed when fishing line up at the start in Nysted (Denmark) in order to crossing the finish line in front of Warnemünde first and to win the Scandlines Cup.

But at the Haikutter-Regatta (shark cutter race) everyone is a winner. Thanks to many different sponsors all participants get an entry fee disbursed, which should contribute to the preservation of the traditional ships. The so-called shark cutter tax computes itself from the relationship of the sum of sponsor contributions to the overall length of all participant ships.
