Haikutter-Bote No. 1 & 2

In this newspaper you will find information about the third Haikutter-regatta, which will take place on 10 August 2011 from Nysted to Rostock.

The 1. Haikutter-regatta from the Danish Nysted started 2009 as a prologue and starting-highlight of the 19. Hanse Sail on 5 August 2009, because Denmark has been the partner-country of the Hanse Sail Rostock that year.

The Haikutter-Regatta embodies a high degree the idea of traditional sailing. The old ships are elaborately preserved and reconstructed by members and private persons. It is estimated that over 8.000 of these former fishing-vehicles were built at the end of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century. They had the edge on their competitors that they had both a higher speed and the opportunity to accelerate the fishing gear due to sophisticated technology.

With the Haikutter-regatta the touristic product emerged to join in a sail under the established brand “sailBaltic Tours”. 2011 the Haikutter will start for the third time to a race, where the joint-sailers get offered unforgettable moments.
